African Devil's Claw root cut
The African Devil's Claw (Harpagophytum procumbens or zeyheri, wait-a-bit, South African Devil's Claw Root, grapple plant, Trample) grows herbaceous in the savannahs of the Kalahari in South Africa, Botswanas and Namibia and forms up to 1.5 meters long unearthly shoots.
It helps the joints: pour 1 liter of boiling water over 1 heaped teaspoon of our very fine root powder of Harpagophytum procumbens and let it steep overnight at room temperature. Strain in the morning
It gets its name from the large, light pink to red, flowers and from its claw-like, barbed fruits, which thereby hang on animals, so that the plant spreads further.
Its widely ramified storage roots (secondary roots) have long been known for their beneficial effects in Africa.
The devil's claw was introduced to Europe in the 1950s and experienced a veritable boom in its use in humans and animals in the 1970s, yes, the devil's claw is also used with dogs and horses.
In Europe there are two types of plants that also bear the name Devil's Claw. However, these belong to the bluebell family and are not related to the African devil's claw (Harpagophytum procumbens or zeyheri), which belongs to the sesame family.
The African devil's claw grows in hot climates on dry, sandy soils
