Germalyne Tradition has been produced since 1930 by the monks of Sept-Fons. Germalyne wheat germ flour is rich in essential vitamins and minerals, proteins and omega-3 fatty acids.
GERMALYNE wheat germ flour contains minute traces of gluten: between 8 and 420 ppm (i.e. between 8 and 420 mg per kg). The threshold for "gluten-free" is a maximum of 20 mg / kg.
Regular consumption of wheat germ or wheat germ oil can slow down aging, this is due to the ingredient spermidine, which is present in wheat germ in large quantities, namely 243 mg/kg. The monastery of Sept-Fons in Bourbon-Lancy
Today, more than 70 members live in Sept-Fons, including many young monks from all over the world. They live faithfully according to the religious rules of St. Benedict and strive to maintain a balance between prayer, study and (especially manual) labor. Since the wheat cultivation is mainly for self-supply, they work carefully organic-ecological. Nevertheless, agriculture is not enough for the monks to live.
The mill, the MOULIN DE LA TRAPPE, is entirely managed by the monks. The abbey is equipped with an agricultural and food production facility (mill and workshop, storage and expedition rooms). Since 1930, wheat germ has been the most important product, which is the basis for a number of other natural products produced or prepared in the monastery.
