The secret of long life, an ancient dream that the Chinese emperors pursued with expeditions to Siberia to collect rhodiola roots. Rhodiola Rosea increases energy and vitality, lifts mood and promotes physical and mental well-being in times of stress.
Rhodiola rosea, the rose root, is a perennial plant that grows on sandy, rocky, cold and dry slopes in Siberia. Its use goes back to the Greek doctor Dioscoride (77 BC). Tradition attributes it to: increasing stamina, longevity, sexual strength and mental abilities. Scientific studies in Russia and Scandinavia in the 1960s confirmed this. Since then, Rhodiola rosea has been considered one of the first adaptogenic substances (generally increasing the body's resistance to stress), similar to ginseng.
Rhodiola root can stimulate the energy metabolism of cells. It favors higher levels of adenosine triphosphate (ATP) and creatine phosphate in the mitochondria, the cellular energy factories, and consequently the supply of more energy molecules essential for daily tasks.
Studies have shown that Rodiola can help with Parkinson's disease and depression as well as smoking cessation.
Roseroot can have psychostimulating effects. This has been highlighted in Russian research. It can lift sad moods and reduces recovery time after exertion. It can also help relieve stress and fatigue and increases the ability to do mental work. Rhodiola works by reducing the concentration of metabolites produced by stress, particularly CRF (Corticotropin Releasing Factor), which increases Fatigue.
