Organic coconut milk in Ayurveda cuisine
It is the ingredient that gives flavor and texture to Indian and Ayurvedic dishes.
Effect of organic coconut milk on your health
It raises the HDL cholesterol level, the so-called "good" cholesterol, which reduces the risk of arteriosclerosis and heart attack.
Coconut milk contains less fat (15-22%) than cream made from cow's milk (30-35%).
However, it not only provides less fat, but also a very specif fat.
It consists of the rare medium-chain triglycerides, also called MCT (Middle Chain Triglycerides), which are burned to energy faster than other fatty acids, which make the love handles grow. The medium-chain triglycerides are particularly useful for the energy supply to the lymph nodes and the liver, because they form smaller droplets in the cell to which enzymes can bind more easily.
MCTs are therefore less "fat".
But this only applies if you don't consume more than 60 ml (1/4 cup) of coconut milk a day.
Organic coconut milk activates the thyroid gland
Since the MCTs stimulate the metabolism, they stimulate the thyroid gland, which is responsible for the speed of your metabolism.
Organic coconut milk and the antibacterial lauric acid
One of the medium chain fatty acids is lauric acid.
The coconut oil in the coconut milk consists of about 50 to 55% of it.
Lauric acid inhibits the growth of germs, making food last longer.
Lauric acid also has an antibacterial effect in the body, because it penetrates the cell wall of pathogens (bacteria, fungi, viruses) which then die, even herpes and flu viruses and candida fungi.
Organic coconut milk for acne?
Lauric acid also works against Propionibacterium acnes, which is blamed for acne.
The sebum in the skin's pores attracts lauric acid.
The acid dissolves in the sebum and thus can slow the growth of acne bacteria.
Coconut milk instead of cow's milk
Diluted coconut milk is a nutritious and tasty substitute for cow's milk.
It perfectly complements the taste of pineapple, peach, mango and many other fruits and can therefore be used to prepare fruit smoothies or desserts.
If you are allergic to coconuts, you are not necessarily allergic to coconut milk.
But first you should try only a small amount of coconut milk.
