The leaves are carefully picked by hand so as not to damage the trees, because if the leaves are individually picked from the stem with great care, the leaves will grow back. The people from the organic farm only take the mature, rich leaves in their full strength, they cut them one by one and very carefully. Only then will the new, young leaf, which is already in its infancy, not be injured and will be able to grow. This is very important, otherwise they will hurt the tree. And a Graviola tree takes a long time to bear fruit and a sufficient number of leaves.
This work is tedious because you can hardly climb the trees. The trunks are rather thin and the branches hardly bendable, so you have to get to the leaves from the outside. The trees grow very slowly, so it takes at least 10 years before the first harvest is meaningfully possible.
The leaves are gently dried in the shade so that the active ingredients of Annona are retained. This also keeps the leaves greener.
